Therapeutic placements within a family setting
A real new focus on fostering

Become a Carer

We are always searching for outstanding foster carers to share our passion and vision.

Our carers are chosen for their people skills, an empathetic approach to care, and an unfaltering ability to 'stick with it' when the going gets tough. This exceptional resilience is crucial to helping youngsters settle and regain some semblance of normality. And as many of our placements have been moved frequently between foster homes or residential settings, it is our aim to give every child the chance to experience a stable family life.

Become a Carer

A unique FOCAS by unique people...

We are all different. And there's no given prescription as to whom and what makes a perfect carer. All our placements and carers are individuals with separate needs and aims.

WHO BECOMES A CARER?

YOU can become a carer... as long as:

  • You don't have any major health problems
  • You genuinely like, understand, and care for children and young people
  • You have lived successfully with your partner for at least one year (full-time and respite carers only)
  • You are ready to cope with the challenges and demands of caring for vulnerable and traumatised children... through the rough times, and the smooth.

We are recruiting now for a diverse range of foster carers...

You may:

  • Have only one spare bedroom in your home.
  • Already have your own children who are almost grown up.
  • Still have the energy and enthusiasm to care, even though your own children have left home. Or you may not have your own children, but you understand how to mix and interact with them.
  • Have room in your home for a 'family group', or a mother and/or father with a baby, or an expectant young mum.
  • Be particularly interested in helping a young person who has 'lost track' and is in trouble with the law.
  • Have experience of working with abused children or young people, or those with disabilities.
  • Even have been abused yourself and, having come to terms with it, you have the insight to help others.
  • Be single, married, separated, widowed, divorced, or in a stable relationship.
  • Be from a child care, or another caring profession.
  • Have gained experience from bringing up your own children, or other people's.
  • Be in your twenties, or your sixties... age is immaterial.

Your background and experience can be completely diverse and unique. What matters is that you care... and you have a balanced, empathetic approach towards children and young people of all ages.
