NEWFOCAS Management Team are undergoing consultation with the Centre of Research and Education in Psychological Trauma.
NEWFOCAS is delighted to report that the "Being Mindfully Trauma Informed” training on trauma has been a great success. The first 2 days of the course have seen 50+ attendees' listen attentively, and gain great insight into Trauma.
- It's effect on development particularly children's development.
- Its effect on carers who we managing the trauma.
The attendees included managers, panel members, foster cares , administration staff and social workers including local authority social workers, and guests from Malta. The critical feedback is very positive with attendees commenting positively on the links to theory and practice, and how it gave a better understanding about the brain, how it works, and the devastating effect trauma has for a child's development.
The aim of the course has been to provide a good solid foundation of understanding in relation to Trauma, and the organisation, and attendees are looking forward to the 3rd day, on Wednesday October 12th. At the end of that day NEWFOCAS will be able to say that it is a Trauma Aware organisation, and is continuing on it journey to be Trauma Informed.
Unlike larger Fostering Agencies, we are small enough to know all our Carers and their placements on a very individual basis and Carers are never left to deal with a crisis situation alone or unsupported.
