Therapeutic placements within a family setting
A real new focus on fostering

G is approved by Panel as a NEWFOCAS respite carer

Gina is a lecturer and teaches health and social care; as part of her work role she teaches a range of subjects including Child development, Health and safety, Sexual awareness / Education, Drugs awareness, Sexuality, Abuse, Diversity, Nutrition and Healthy living and Eating. Gina is a good role model in the sense that she likes keeping fit by going running and eating a healthy diet, she always promotes healthy eating and living to her family.

Another area of expertise is G liaising with the parents of students in order to resolve issues which may arise and which is part of G's 'Mentor/pastoral' remit.  G's role as a lecture demands that she worked in line with current legislation relating to data protection and dealing with confidential information pertaining to her students.  Her role demands that she work in an anti-discriminated/oppressive manner which promotes diversity and values difference, as her students have varying and individual needs.

G has designed and implemented smoking cessation clauses for her students in order for them to have the knowledge and support they would need to give up smoking.

G has also brought up five sons and has at all times ensured their developmental needs are met.

Testimonials

"They seem to have the ability to match children's needs to the placement, rather than the other way around, in my experience.  The child comes first".
