J and M live in a large, detached house with spacious and well kept gardens, on the edge of Trearddur Bay, near Holyhead, Anglesey. The home is off the beaten track, and is very close to open spaces and beautiful country side, conducive to working in a very therapeutic manner with children who have experienced past trauma. The grounds are expansive and there is a large enclosed trampoline for children to enjoy the therapeutic repetitive movement of controlled bounce.

One of their longest fostering experiences in the past was to care for two girls from another country and culture, through which they learned a lot about themselves, and others. The children came to them in and emergency situation, just before Christmas and there was a lot of adapting to for everyone, including the birth children in the family. They learned through this placement, first hand, about prejudice, unfairness, societal boundaries, communication and working closely with birth family members as well as the local authority social work staff and educationalists.  They had to liaise closely with the children's birth parents who remained in their own country.  J & M have worked with many children from a wide range of differing cultures and backgrounds.

Both J and M are used to adhering to set plans and working to them, as are they familiar with writing regular and ongoing, accurate and objective reports, which they have had to do in their role as residential social workers and also in their support current roles. In both the residential work and in fostering, J and M have experience of adhering to and contributing to written plans, attending planning meetings, as key workers of for statutory reviews and have provided written reports for such events.  J & M also have experience in undertake community assessments for families and young children.

NEWFOCAS are very pleased to have J and M as therapeutic foster carers for the agency, and hope that the whole family enjoy working with NEWFOCAS to give children in care a safe and secure environment to live in and help children to recovery from any trauma or loss they have encountered.
