Both W and P have lived in a respite fostering household and have undertaken sessional caring work for a number of years for NEWFOCAS. They have both proved themselves to be valued and skillful sessional carers who can work to a given plan.
Through training they have looked in more depth at some of the essential principals and values for fostering children and have demonstrated an understanding of such.
Pippa, who will be the main carer, has extensive first hand knowledge of the role of foster carer, through observing her parents and being an active participant of a fostering family.
P's day to day work, as an outdoor learning coordinator for a charity which runs outdoor and environmental education of children and young people, has meant that her knowledge of relevant health and safety issues which although geared to children in an educational setting, are transferable to the foster caring role.
Will has also been active in running a local football team and has gain an understanding of Health and Safety complexities through this role.
